Home again, home again ..........

Hello,
Yes, I've been back just over a week now and am still trying to get all my washing done and dried. It's been raining and cold and windy ever since we arrived home, so we are wishing we had stayed out a bit longer. But, once we start talking of maybe going home, seems then we are home within the week, or even 3 or 4 days.

We had a fabulous 7 weeks away and went lots of places. Yes, we did manage to get some gold - enough to pay for the trip and maybe about half of Adam's new detector that he bought last year. Well, I say "we", but I only found one piece, and that was on the morning of the last day we went detecting, but it was a 5gm piece.

We started out in Cue, then moved onto Anean and then Nanine. While we were there, we heard that the daughter of one of our friends had died in her sleep, so went back to Cue and then to Geraldton for her funeral. Very sad. She was only 34.

Back to Cue for a few days and then on to a place in the bush that we stayed at for 7 days. I couldnt detect much there as my machine kept finding the "hot rock", so I did lots of sewing and knitting.

Then on to Meekatharra for a couple of days to catch up with washing, and then we took the dirt road (194km) to Sandstone. We had never done this trip before although had talked about it. While we were in Sandstone we got a call from Ivan, our friend who often goes out with us. He (74y.o.) and another bloke (79y.o.) were on their way out and wanted to meet up with us and go to a place called Duketon, which is about 130km north of Laverton. We had heard that because it is so isolated it is best to go with at least 3 cars, so we couldnt let this oportunity pass.

We got to Laverton a couple of days before we were due to meet the guys, so naturally did a bit of prospecting locally. We have a couple of places to go back to.

We spent about a week out at Duketon and surrounds, then started coming back as Bill could only stay a couple of weeks. He eventually went home early cos he had a sore back.

We spent 3 days at a place called Murrin Murrin, then moved back to Sandstone for a couple of days and thats when we started to talk about going home.

I loved the whole trip. The van worked a treat, as did the new annex we had made. I got lots of patchwork done, and even did quite a bit of prospecting, even though I didnt find much.

Looking forward to the next trip, which is only a couple of weeks away.

Faye.
