Broome photo's

I promised a while ago that I would put up some pictures of Broome - well, here they are. I reckon the sunset one is as good as any postcard. The one of the 3 Camels on the lawn I thought they were statues at first, until I saw them move - eating the grass. No-one was tending them. They were just waiting, although they were tethered together.

And this one my Hubby took recently - in our garden. They almost look like they should be singing or whistling to you. We have 3 "clumps" of them and there must be about 40 flowers altogether. Keeping an eye on the place.

We are off the the Kulin "Bush Races" this weekend. We went about 5 years ago and had so much fun we decided we'd go again, but this is the first time since. I'll take some photo's again. Kulin is East of Perth, probably about 3 hours drive. If you are travelling to Wave Rock in Hyden, then take a detour to Kulin and travel the "Tin Highway". All the farms have put up statues and scenes using old cars, hay bales, old drums and the like. It goes for about 5 km - make sure you have lots of film space!

I'm working on another mini Round Robin at the moment. Will take a photo, but wont be able to post it until "Prue" gets it. I dont want to spoil it for her. And, never having one thing only on the go, I'm also working on my hexagons still, and also 2 more mini RR's. Then there's the Blue and Yellow - think that's about all at the moment, but I'm thinking about what to take out next. I want to finish off some more PHD's (Projects Half Done!).

In the garden, we have been planting out some veggie seedlings. We have a lot of trees on our property and the roots are very invasive, so we have decided to grow most of our plants in pots. Well, our veggie patch this year is an old canoe that the boys used to have when they were kids. Makes a beaut garden. Once again, I'll take a photo when the plants have grown a bit. I love it!

I'm off to work on the mini RR's.

Cheers,
Faye.

"THE" feeling.

Yep. I feel another quilt coming on. I've been looking at scrap quilts and also QAYG (Quilt As You Go) patterns and I have an idea that I'm just about ready to have a go at. It will be made with some of my strips from my stash ... cos, (sigh) I'm trying not to buy any more fabric until I've made a bit of a dent in the "collection". I've made quite a few scrappy quilts, but I still cant see a dent. Mind you, I havent been completely "on the waggon". But I'm buying less at a time.

I'm still trying to get myself organised to move into a larger room, but things are getting in the way. Like, I really have to sort out some of my stuff before I move, and thats a 1 step forward, 2 steps back job. I keep finding things that side-track me :-)

And I will have to completely clean out all the stuff in the new room, so I can clean it properly and paint it. ... Next dilema - what colour?I'm not a yellow person, but I think it will be yellow. Its a bright clean colour. But, I could have a feature wall. Hmmm ... purple - no, pink - no, green is my favourite colour, but I think - no, brown - no (maybe a bit dark), - well, maybe NOT a feature wall. Besides, it would be hidden behind all the cupboards I plan to put along there.

I've had fun planning and designing the room. Now I just really have to get on and do something constructive about moving.

I'm off to try and sort out another cupboard, this one is general craft items. I hardly ever use them, but the moment I toss them, I'll need them. Gotta get tuff!!

Till next time,
Cheers,
Faye.

Checking in.

Hello,
Just thought I'd better put a few words together and advise that I hope to get the camera working again tomorrow and update on things I'm working on. Actually havent done all that much - we've been away again. Last weekend we went to Broome for a wedding. It was a lovely wedding and I enjoyed seeing Broome ..... and the 35 degree heat! DH took a couple of ripper shots of the camels in the sunset on Cable Beach, so I'll put them up soon. I reckon they are better than the postcards you buy.

We are babysitting our sons dog this weekend. Zeus is a mini Doberman - and so cute. He follows me round all the time and can almost talk. This is him - doing the ironing!! Sorry about the mess at the bottom of the photo. Dont know how to crop yet.

Till later then.

Cheers,
Faye.

Marmalade

Hmmm This is my 3 fruit Marmalade and this time I got it "just right". Not too runny, not too thick and a beautiful flavour. The three fruits are 1 grapefruit, 2 small sweet oranges and 2 lemons (1 Eurika and 1 Meyer), all from the trees on our property. I only made half quantity, so hence only 6 small jars. We have already almost finished one of the small ones, I've given away 2 (or at least Hubby has!!!), so looks like I'll have to make some more before very long.

I've also made about 8 jars of a Cumquat Marmalade. That also turned out very well, but I havent taken any photo's. This makes a quite "tart" jam that I love, but some would not. Cumquats have so many seeds ..... this time I cut them in half and took out the pips, then threw them into the food processor for a few "zaps". Worked fine and I didnt have to slice up all the fruit.

Have to get out and start the veggie patch soon. We are starting from scratch again with it, as it's about 3 years since we really did any. Last year we put all our veg in pots - tomatoes, bush cucumber and capsicum mainly, and a few of the gourmet lettuce.

Gotta go. My dinner needs attention.

Cheers,
Faye

What I'm working on

Hi,
These are some of the things I'm working on - I'm sure I'm not the only one who has more than 3 or 4 things on the go at once. They are not really UFO's, but they are WIP's and definitely PHD's (project half done).

This is actually my thread ends
that I kept on the dash
while I was sewing "Under
the Sea" BOM from Willowberry
Designs. I quite liked the
"Op Art" but Hubby said it
had to go :-(

This is what I've done so far.

I love the look of this centre, but it's a bit
heavy for the stitcheries that I want to
put around it.

See what I mean.
I am working on
another centre.

.
And this is my hexagon project. They are about 1" across and I'm loving doing it. I worked on it quite a lot this time when I was travelling. I have made 5 of the triangle points and still have one to finish. Can you make out the butterfly? Around the large hexagon there are 3 butterflies and 3 flower patches. I have and idea on what to fill in the next diamond. Dont know how large it will eventually be. I'm still having fun :-)

Hope you like my pickies. I'm still learning how to put them up. I actually keep losing them as I add new ones, so it's a wonder they aren'e all "blue" with the cussing that was going on LOL.

Cheers,
Faye.

Home till next year.

Hello,
Well. I'm back in civilization again, this time until about April next year,2011. We had quite a successful 5 weeks (again) out in the outback of WA, gold prospecting. I didnt do any this time. My back always suffers, so decided it just wasnt worth it. I sit in the car and sew while DH prospects, and I do the cooking, washing, cleaning, etc - but its quite fun in our little van. We had lots of water nearby so were able to have a shower every other day. Usually its just a wash-down until we can get to town for a shower.

I spent lots of time working on my hexagons and they are looking good, even if I do say so myself! I also worked on a "blue on yellow" centre medallion for a quilt that will probably be a table cloth. But, it's too heavy. I have done appliqué tulips, and all the little blocks around the edge are stitcheries (a swap I was in), so the solid appliqué is too much. I have drawn out another pattern I found that I will embroider and see how that looks.

My Byzantine Star quilt top is finished and my friend finished quilting it while I was away. I am giving it to my (favourite) niece for her wedding in December - she loves it.

I'll try and get some photo's up in the next couple of days. And I'm hoping I will be able to post a bit more often now that we are not travelling.

Until next time.
Cheers,
Faye.
